This card is a competitive staple. Yes, it’s a worse Vampiric Tutor that needs to be cast at sorcery speed, but it’s still 1 mana to tutor any card to the top of your library. It usually isn’t that hard to crack the top of your library to get that combo piece or whatever else. People also aren’t above tutoring for Mana Crypt on turn 1 even with the near omnipresent threat of Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer stealing their topdecks.

There was a period of time where blue was occasionally given the ability to destroy a creature by polymorphing it into something else. In this case, you can help your opponent’s best creature channel its inner ape. I’m pretty sure that there’s even a popular meme for this concept.

Deep Gnome Terramancer seems like an instant staple that’s never going away until they release something even better. I feel this is what WOTC originally intended to do with Boreas Charger or Cartographer’s Hawk, but maybe at that point there wasn’t as high of a demand to ‘fix white’ in EDH or they just weren’t sure how far they could push white while still staying within the boundaries of the color pie.

Worry not, because Grand Abolisher is here to help! For just 2 mana, this card disables most of your opponents’ answers during your turn. It’s hardly a surprise that this is one of the most sought after reprints from Commander players.

You can’t have a Mindflayer captain without a ship! Nautiloid Ship gives you another graveyard exile effect - but this one allows you to use the cards exiled by it, making it a nice card for both its mechanic and its flavor.
