For One Mana: White
Each of these cards has their own use in some way shape or form, and if you know your local pod relies on turning creatures sideways to load up on umpteen combat or attack-related triggers at which point they reach critical mass, surprise them next time.
Out of the Box: Wilds of Eldraine
You need untapped lands to do that though, sorry. Only Alela gets to play at instant speed ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).
Our Top 10 Cards from Wilds of Eldraine for Commander
I just hope that Korlag manages to stay safe, because he must be protected at all costs.
Food, Swords, and Magic: An Interview with TheHermitDruid
Today’s article was my opportunity to sit down with Nathan and chat about attending Magic conventions and get to know him a little better.
Pick a Number: Knowing What to Choose and When in cEDH
Among these, there exists a card that has generated some buzz among cEDH players, a new Dimir Faerie Noble commander that allows you to pick a number. That certainly sounds pretty fun.
2nd Place at Austrian Legacy Masters —Tournament Report
The community is what’s keeping Legacy alive, and if there’s anything I can say after this weekend, it’s that Legacy is alive, thriving, and just so much fun right now.
Anatomy of a Staple
Chief: Let’s be serious. Some people would also rather lose to a Glacial Chasm than have any way to remove it.
Exxaxl: All decks should pass the Glacial Chasm test.
Our Top 10 Cards from Commander Masters
I’m obligated to mention that the brand new borderless artwork for Champion’s Helm depicts Commander players who were waiting around for the card to get a reprint... Paolo Parente knocked this one out of the park.
A Blazing Sun That Never Sets: Sun Titan in EDH
I’ve occasionally heard that Sun Titan is just too slow for casual Commander these days. If that ever becomes true, I might not continue playing. I have no intention of cutting Sun Titan any time soon.
Spring League 2023 - Mid Power
AlarionMTG: She is a badass Goblin in a wheelchair, that started from the bottom and rose to the top, becoming one of the Izmagnus and serving directly under Niv-Mizzet—one of my favorite characters—so character-wise she won me over from the start!
Spring League 2023 - Low Power
ultramonkeydude: I actually just picked up Last March of the Ents and I think this would be pretty cool in this deck because my commander is a 10/10. I also just learned about Cavern-Hoard Dragon, which looks like a sick card!
Past, Present, and Future. Thank you?
Magic’s as old as Doom, Beanie Babies, the entry into force of the Treaty of the European Union and Nelson Mandela’s Nobel Peace Prize. It’s less fleeting than I thought it would be initially and I get to be a part of it now, for the time being.
Our Top 10 Cards from The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth for Commander
Exxaxl: Behoooold the wizaaaaard. Chief: Here we go again.Exxaxl: Bewaaaaare his poweeeeers. Chief: Get it out of your system. Exxaxl: 🤘🎸Unspeakable poweeeeers!
Did You Build Your Casual Commander Deck Wrong?
Phil Gallagher from ThrabenU joins us to showcase his philosophy for casual Commander deck-building and asks an age-old question.
Spring League 2023 - Battlecruiser
The flavor is there for most of them! I’m a big fan of cards like Displacer Beast. The goal of the deck was to shove as much of the D&D art in there while still having a defined wincon and having a deck that would still be fun for both me and everyone I play the deck against.
Out of the Box: March of the Machine 3/3
Bone Sabres seems like just the type of card your tokens need without being ‘too strong’. If this card also gave a keyword to the equipped creature I’d feel we see it played more often. Bioshift can make a huge difference with how combat flows for you and it’s still wild to me that this isn’t a bigger staple in +1/+1 counter decks. We’ve seen this card printed once in Gatecrash and it’s only $0.14 at the time of writing.
Out of the Box: March of the Machine 2/3
Trigger Guardian Scalelord, returning Abzan Battle Priest to the field. Riot choice is a +1/+1 counter here, trigger Shalai for 2 damage, trigger Enduring Scalelord, trigger Shalai for 2 damage again. Your attackers now have lifelink. How much damage are you taking? Math is for blockers - or for editors, right Chief? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Ranked for EDH: The Swords Cycle
This is why the recent completion of a cycle that began back in 2004’s Darksteel is such a big deal. After all, it took over 19 years for this cycle to finally come to a close.
Out of the Box - March of the Machine - 1/3
It’s weird to see this effect on a mono blue card knowing only 37 cards with at least Blue as their color identity exist (excluding changelings). I’d like to believe this was a deliberate design choice, just like with Vodalian Wave-Knight. Now, can we get a reprint of Riding the Dilu Horse already? Without updating the rules text to say ‘until end of turn’ obviously
